Pr. Weedon has an interesting post on the elevation of the host. What a wonderful reality that our Lord deigns to be in our midst and give us His Holy Body and Blood for our forgiveness and salvation.

You’re St. Melito of Sardis! You have a great love of history and liturgy. You’re attached to the traditions of the ancients, yet you recognize that the old world — great as it was — is passing away. You are loyal to the customs of your family, though you do not hesitate to call family members to account for their sins. Find out which Church Father you are at The Way of the Fathers! |

I do not do a proper “elevation” in the classical genuflection and all definition. However, it apparently is clear from my practice that I do an “elevation”. When discussing Luther’s liturgical reforms and the elevation in the history class, I asked if people knew what the elevation was. One of my members said, “Yes, it is where you show us Christ’s Body and Blood.”
My practice has been to turn and face the congregation with a host and with the chalice when I say “The peace of the Lord be with You always”. I guess it gets the point across that I hoped it did.
